BRIEFING TEXT FOR MISSION 1

Welcome to the Rebel Alliance. In preparation for our battle against the evil Empire, we have
seized six Calamari Cruisers at the Mon Calamari shipyard. These and our other ships and supplies
will be taken to a secret location where we shall build up our main base.

Unfortunately, it looks as though we are not getting these Cruisers without a fight. Infiltrating
the shipyard and stealing the Cruisers was only part of this operation. Now we must escape with
all Cruisers in one piece each. An Imperial task force consisting of one Imperial Star Destroyer
and two Victory Star Destroyers has just arrived and is trying to stop us.

We have one squadron of Z-95 Headhunters and one of Y-Wings available to protect our Cruisers.
The Z-95s will be armed with missiles. Your main objective will be to stop the TIE Bombers from
making torpedo runs on our Cruisers. If you can stop them, we should be able to escape.

Expect several squadrons of TIE Bombers escorted by TIE Fighters. We have also heard rumours
that the Imperial Star Destroyer Warrior is equipped with a squadron of a new kind of TIE, so be
careful out there.

BRIEFING TEXT FOR MISSION 2

We have learned the route of an Imperial arms convoy headed for Corellia. We will ambush it along
the way with a small strike force of Y-Wings.

The chance that your strike force will be detected on its way is minimal, so you should be able
to surprise the Imperials. When you spot the convoy, engage it with proton torpedoes and destroy
as much of it as you safely can. Enter hyperspace before reinforcements can arrive.

BRIEFING TEXT FOR MISSION 3

During the last few weeks, we have struck many Imperial convoys with minimal losses on our side.
Our intelligence network has told us of a particularly interesting target to strike.

As you know, standard Imperial procedure is to defend a freighter convoy with one or two
Assassin-class Corvettes. These specially modified Corellian Corvettes have a TIE hangar bay
large enough for a flight of TIE Fighters or Interceptors.

We have learned the time and place where a large group of these Corvettes will be equipped with
TIEs. If we can strike those Corvettes now, we can save ourselves a great deal of trouble later.

We can spare six Y-Wing fighters for this mission, all armed with proton torpedoes. Your mission
will be to destroy all of the Imperial Corvettes.

BRIEFING TEXT FOR MISSION 4

The Twi'lek, an alien race inhabiting the planet Ryloth, have expressed the wish to meet with
Alliance officials to discuss a treaty. The Twi'lek delegation would meet up with our flagship
Independence aboard a Corellian Corvette. Although this meeting was supposed to be secret, it has
evidently leaked out: we just received a distress call from the Corvette Karinne. It appears to
be under Imperial attack!

FRG Liberator is responding to this distress call. We must protect the Twi'lek delegation - their
Corvette is unarmed and they are totally helpless. If we seek to persuade the Twi'lek to join our
cause, we cannot fail here.

BRIEFING TEXT FOR MISSION 5

Our numbers are few. We are especially low on qualified starfighter pilots. We can barely man the
Z-95 Headhunters and Y-Wings we have now, and expansion of our starfighter fleet is out of the
question unless we can get more pilots.

General Dodonna has come up with a way to find us more supporters: we are going to intercept a
group of prisoner Shuttles heading toward the Imperial prison planet Kessel. We have learned that
there are many pirates and rebels among these prisoners, and anticipate that many of them will be
willing to join our side if we liberate them. With luck, there will be useful specialists among
them: engineers, tacticians, and most importanty, pilots.

Imperial patrols in the sectors surrounding Kessel are dense, so we can't send too large a strike
force without being detected. Half a squadron of Y-Wings will disable the Shuttles and destroy
any escorts. Five Shuttles of our own will then board the prisoner Shuttles and liberate the
prisoners. Finally, Calamari Cruiser Ardent will pick up our Y-Wings and Shuttles and launch
additional fighters if necessary.

BRIEFING TEXT FOR MISSION 6

The Pakuuni pirates we rescued in the last mission are most grateful and have offered their
assistance in return. They have promised to bring us in contact with the Incom Corporation.
Incom has been a famous designer and producer of many fine starfighters during the Clone Wars,
including the Z-95 Headhunter. Incom used to cooperate with the Subpro Corporation, but the
founding of the Empire has split the two apart. Subpro supports the Empire, but Incom has sought
refuge with the Pakuuni.

For the past year, Incom has worked on a new starfighter model called the X-Wing. They have
recently finished six prototypes and they are now offering to give these to us! If this X-Wing is
as good as the design suggests, this craft may be just what we need to fight the Empire
effectively.

We have met up with the Pakuuni Frigate Basher in a quiet corner of the Pakuuni system. The
Incom Frigate carrying the X-Wing prototypes will arrive soon. When it arrives, it will be your
duty to protect it and the prototypes.

If we are detected by Imperial forces, you must destroy any and all Imperial craft encountered.
If you let one get away, it will be able to alert Imperial Center of the X-Wing project. This
cannot be allowed, since we are planning to use these X-Wings for a surprise attack.

The Pakuuni have promised to help us if any threat arrives, but don't count on their pilots to
be as skilled as ours. Also, to ensure a good relationship between the Alliance and the Pakuuni,
make sure that they do not lose their Frigate.

BRIEFING TEXT FOR MISSION 7

We are almost ready to set course for our main base at Briggia, but first, we are going to
perform a dual strike. Intelligence has informed us that the Imperial Moff Tarkin will rendezvous
with a Corvette near the planet Turkana. This Corvette supposedly contains documents regarding
the routes of vital Imperial convoys. FRG Liberator will execute a quick strike to capture this
Corvette and retrieve those documents.

Meanwhile, you have been chosen to lead a starfighter strike force on another important target:
Moff Tarkin himself! He is on one of five Shuttles currently heading for the hangar bay of ISD
Avenger, and escorted by only six TIE Fighters.

Our resources are limited, since most of our forces are already at Briggia and Orian. Therefore,
our strike force will consist only of six Y-Wings, two Z-95 Headhunters for escort, and a
commando Shuttle to capture Tarkin. No warheads are available.

Our fighters will drop out of hyperspace directly in front of the Shuttles. This should allow you
to surprise them and their escorts. The Z-95s will take out the TIE Fighter escorts. Meanwhile,
you must inspect the Shuttles until you find Tarkin, then disable his Shuttle. SHU Hunter will
then hyper in to capture him. You must hold off ISD Avenger's TIEs long enough to allow Hunter to
escape.

BRIEFING TEXT FOR MISSION 8

Red alert! Red alert! We had just finished loading the documents on CRS Independence when an
Imperial task force jumped out of hyperspace nearby. TIEs of all kinds are approaching our
Cruisers. We have to get out of here quickly; all available fighters are being scrambled to
protect our ships.

We are outnumbered, but we have a surprise: the X-Wing prototypes we got from Incom are
operational, and will be used in this battle! You will lead the X-Wings from CRS Independence.
You will be assisted by Y-Wings and Z-95s from the Defiance, the Liberty, and Madine's FRG,
the Salvation. FRG Liberator has already left the sector and can no longer help us. You must hold
off the TIE Bombers long enough to allow all four remaining capital ships to escape.

Our opponents are two Imperial Star Destroyers, the Warrior and the Invincible, as well as an
enormous warship designated 'Executor'. We have never seen such a design before, but it is
positively huge, almost 8 km in length. You are well advised to stay away from it.

Our fleet will require about 15 minutes to escape to Briggia. We are counting on you to keep
us safe.

Good luck, and may the Force be with you.
